Your Child's Teeth

Here at Truly Dental, healthy mouths are our main priority! The best way to achieve this is to see our patients regularly, to prevent any dental disease from occurring - especially for children!

''Why would I bring my child here, not to an NHS dentist? ''
We offer high-quality, friendly, preventive care for children. This means healthier teeth for life, healthier mouths, and children who are happy and confident to attend the dentist in later life.

This is something which the NHS tries to achieve, but often with budget cuts sometimes an NHS dentist cannot offer the time and continuity your child needs to develop trust and confidence with their dentist.

Here at Truly Dental, your child will learn to know and trust the people who look after their teeth, like you do, so they can feel confident and comfortable in familiar surroundings.

We are not restricted in our time or materials like we would be on the NHS, so the quality of treatment is higher. We hope that your child never needs any fillings, but if they do fillings would usually be silver on the NHS. For children on the Membership Plan, all fillings needed would be done in a tooth-coloured filling material, and would be included on the membership plan up to and including the age of 14 years old. From the age of 15 years old, treatment would become chargeable although at a reduced cost - silver fillings £50, white fillings £75, extraction of adult teeth £65.

The Finer Details:
There are a number of options for children at Truly Dental. We offer free brief examination/acclimatization appointments for children whose parents are on a Membership Plan, until the age of 4 years old. At the age of 4 (or sooner if you prefer), you would need to either pay for their Examinations and treatment, or sign them up to our Child Membership Plan.

We would recommend our Children's Dental Care Plan. This is £6 per month and covers all treatment needed (including examinations, fillings, extractions, crowns and other restorations, mouthguards to prevent grinding of teeth - as needed) up to and including the age of 14 years old. If your child is at higher risk of decay, the dentist may recommend more frequent visits (three-monthly) for which there would be no extra charge. There is also a host of other perks with the Dental Care Plan - including free and convenient out-of-hours emergency advice, extensive insurance cover of injuries to the teeth caused by trauma (even into adulthood), and Worldwide cover should any accident or emergency occur while you are out of the area or out of the country.

[There are a few treatments which are chargeable for our child patients, including but not limited to: cosmetic treatment such as build-ups, replacement Essix retainers after braces, mouthguards for sports. These items would be chargeable for children at any dental practice, including an NHS practice].

For parents who do not wish their children to be on a plan, their children can be independent patients. The cost of a Dental Health Check is £25, which includes examination, any xrays needed and fluoride varnish application. If the patient requires extra treatment - fillings or extractions etc - then the total cost for this treatment is another £25 per treatment plan, up to and including 14 years old. If three-monthly are recommended this would incur the same charges again, so for children at higher risk of dental decay, the Membership Plan is definitely recommended and is better value for money
